Dundee LibDems Support Campaign For Democracy

Dundee Liberal Democrats have given their backing to the Campaign for Democracy. The campaign, run by The Independent newspaper, calls on the Labour government to address the issue of electoral reform. The 2005 general election produced a weak democratic mandate. The Labour majority of 67 equates to 55.1% of seats. However, this was based on only 35.2% of the UK vote. Indeed, Labour were supported by just 9.6m of the 44.6m voters and, with the election turnout standing at just 61.3%, the government received the support of only 21.6% of the electorate.

High Mill eyesore problem before action taken to remove the rubble

LibDem Councillor welcomes good news over West End eyesore problem

Liberal Democrat Councillor for Tay Bridges Ward, Cllr Fraser Macpherson today welcomed news that the works necessary to remove the dumped rubble and other debris at High Mill has now been carried out under the City Council's enforcement direct action powers by Dundee Contract Services.

Liberal Democrat Councillor tackles road safety concerns

In his monthly update to West End Community Council tonight (Tuesday 10th May 2005), Tay Bridges Ward Liberal Democrat Councillor Fraser Macpherson reported progress relative to concerns raised by Blackness Primary School Parent-Teacher Association about safety at the Perth Road/Blackness Avenue/Shepherd's Loan junction in Dundee's West End.

Thank You Dundee!

The Liberal Democrats had the biggest vote increase in Dundee at the recent General Election of ANY of the parties. In Dundee West, NYKOMA GARRY increased our vote to over 5,300 - hugely up on 2001 - taking an extra 5.2% of the total vote share and pushing the Tories firmly into fourth place.
